Get Outside
Falls of Lana — Short hike to a beautiful waterfall on Lake Dunmore. Peak foliage in mid-October.
Snake Mountain — Easy climb with a panoramic view of the valley and Adirondacks.
Otter Creek — The creek runs right through town. Nice walk along the gorge.
Lake Dunmore — Swimming, kayaking, and picnicking about 15 minutes south of town.
Worth Seeing
Middlebury College — Beautiful campus, especially in October. Just walk around.
Vermont Folklife Center — Small but good. Local art and culture.
Henry Sheldon Museum — Quirky Vermont history museum, well worth an hour.
Frog Hollow — Vermont craft gallery on the main drag.
Nearby
Burlington — 45 minutes north. Waterfront city on Lake Champlain, Church Street, good food scene.
Shelburne Farms — A working farm and inn on the lake. Worth the drive.
Stowe — About 1.5 hours if you want mountains and classic Vermont village charm.
